How to Carry a Passenger Helmet on a Motorcycle?

Motorcycles are a nice and convenient method of travel. They can fit in almost any place and have speed. You can also carry a passenger with you. However, since bikes are so exposed, some laws require both riders to ensure their safety.

One must-have motorcycle accessory you should have is a helmet. It is illegal to ride on a motorcycle if you don’t wear a helmet.  In the event of a crash, they protect your head.

Helmets can be quite expensive to purchase, so you can’t lose them. You can carry your helmet at times, but it can tire you out.

There are different ways you can take care of a spare motorcycle helmet. Let’s take a look at them:

Top boxes or Panniers

These are convenient methods of storing helmets and other accessories. Top boxes are covered from all sides and also have locks in them. You can also carry spare helmets in them.

They protect your helmets from natural elements such as sunlight, rain, and dust. However, these are expensive to buy and also require some considerable space to place.

Cargo Net

A cargo net is a simple net with hooks on it. You can use it to secure a helmet on a bike. To use a cargo net, you simply place your helmet on the seat. Then, you need to throw the net over it and secure the net with the hooks.

There is also another method you can use if you don’t want to scratch your helmets. For this, you first need to remove all the hooks from the net

Then, remove the seat from the bike and secure one side of the net to it. You can use the hooks for this. Afterward, you must reattach the seat to the bike. Then, you need to place your helmet on the seat and throw the net over it.

Attach the net to the frame with a hook, and your helmet is now secure.

Passenger Seat Hooks

Passenger seats of bikes have hooks under them. These look odd, but they have an important feature. You can secure your helmet to these hooks such that it freely dangles.

For this, you need to open up the rear seat. Then, you need to attach the D-ring strap to the hook. This is a quick method to store a helmet. However, if you ride on your bike, the free-moving helmet can potentially scratch off the paint.

Backpack

Some bikes have a backpack attached at the rear. These often have a pocket where you can place your helmets. You only have to place the helmet in the bag and then lock it.

There is only a slight issue with this approach. The helmet may be too large for the pocket or may take up too much space. But it is still an easy and quick method to store a spare helmet.
